The LOOT!

All I can say is Holy Moly!! With 4 kids, 2 school parties, a neighborhood party, and trick or treating, we have enough candy to feed an army or 2!!

Another trip to the spooky forest!

Under the spider tent! Jake is scared because it was windy and the trees were squeaking!

Lexi had a 1/2 day of school today and wanted to go the spooky forest! It was still fun the 2nd time around!!

Allison's Halloween Party at School!

We had a great time at Alli's school party. They always have a fun time eating doughnuts, bobbing for apples, and trick or treating. We came home with bags of candy!!

Alli was one of the only few to actually to get her apple from her bowl. She was so proud and wet when she finally did come up! Becca's version was simpler-just grab it with her hands!!

Tomorrow Jake will be on a field trip to the pumpkin patch and I will be in Lexi's room helping with her party!

Carving Pumpkins

We started on Sunday and finished tonight. The kids had a good time scooping out the insides, picking out their desgins, and seeing the finished product. Becca did really well and didn't want any help (we know by the screaming she does when someone tries)!!!

Happy Halloween! I am sure I will post more pictures tomorrow of the kids in their costumes!!

The Spooky Forest

Jake and his buddies with the spiders!

Jake and Becca in the maze!

Alli and Dora!

Come on Jake! Let him give you a hug!

Today I took Jake, Allison, and Rebecca to a kids spooky forest. We met a couple of Jake's school buddies and their moms there as well. It was in the daylight and nothing jumped out at you!! They loved it. It was a perfect fall day to be out doors!

Trunk or Treat! We have a winner!!

The kids had a good time at their school Trunk or Treat on Friday night. They got candy, rode in a fire truck and police car, was part of the costume judging, jumped in a bounce house and completed a obticale course. And we have a winner!! Rebecca won as the cutest preschooler!!! I had her dressed in a fish costume! It was too cute!!

The Roof Is On!

Between rain drops, Eric finished the roof on Friday. He is leaving for the weekend and will be back later next week to work on the windows and we will start pulling permits for electrical and HVAC.

Delivery of the shingles!

Today was a big day-a nice boom truck came and delivered the shingles! It was fun to watch and Jake was bummed he missed it. The arrived around 8:25 AM!

The Roof!

It is getting harder to take pictures since that roof is so high up!! Wednesday was a day of sheeting!!

All of the trusses are up by 11:15 AM

I ran to ACE and to Kroger's and when I got back all of the trusses are in place. They are hammering away putting in the hurricane brackets. They will sheet it yet today. It is starting to look like a house and not a box set up on the roof!

The First Truss goes up!

Here is a short clip of the first truss being put in place. Enjoy!

The Last Wall

This weekend consisted of building the last of the walls-inside the stairwell and the outer wall. They got 3 trusses up as well and today (Monday) they will do the rest. We had lots of help this weekend (Oliver was here on Sat, Neighbors Ken and Jerry were here with the building and neighbors Billy and David helped stand the wall)

Here is a small clip of them standing it up. This clip was from my digital camera so the quality isn't the best! Enjoy!

Trusses and Walls!

Here are a few pictures they did this weekend. It was a busy weekend with cutting each and every board to the right angle and length. Luckily we had lots of help!

The outside wall and part of the stairway

The first truss!
All the trusses they put on Sunday
First time Jake was allowed upstairs! He climbed into the trusses! At least he was out of the way!!
The last wall to be stood! This is the inside wall for the stairs and outside wall on to the deck. This was a large, heavy wall since there is 2 headers in it!!

I finally made my way up!

I don't like ladders and I don't like the uneasy feeling of "new construction" but I had to yesterday! We had to decide how the inside wall and stairs will look since that is one of the next things to complete. We are so tall up there. It was neat looking over the neighbor's roofs!! I probably won't be up much now since there is no easy way up with the tyveck closing up the windows! I need stairs!!

Tyvek Time!

Ted took the morning off to help Eric put the tyvek on the house. It is now raining and it slowing getting into the basement. Ted will have to go up on the 2nd floor when he gets home to recover our open house. Eric went back home to work on his "own" projects before coming back on Friday when the trusses arrive.

I ordered the windows today and looks for accent siding pieces!

The Sheeting goes up!

Eric spent most of Monday sheeting the house and cutting out the windows.

Fall Fun with Cousins

All of us!
Becca
Alexis
Allison
Jake
Why the men were working on the house, Grandma, Beth, and I made a leaf pile for the kids to jump in, bury theirself, and have fun!!

More walls!

Standing the front wall up!
Nailing down the back wall!

Next came the front wall (south side) and the back wall (north side).

It began raining around 3:30-4 PM, so all work stopped after all of us ran around and gather tools, covered lumber, and most importantly tarped off the end of the house where it is exposed!!

The first of the 2nd Floor Walls!

Ted, John, Eric, Tim, Lauri and Dad standing the first wall!
Holding the wall in place while Eric is nailing it down.

Sunday was a day of building walls! The first wall that they stood was the west end. It is the longest and was the heaviest! Thanks to the crew (Dad G., Eric, Ted, and John) and the help of our neighbors (Lauri and Tim) it was stood with no problems.

Sheeting Time!

Thanks to all of our great help (Dad G., Eric, Ted, and my brother-in-law, John) they got the floor joist and sheeting on the floor completed.
